About Us

Jos Roozen, founder of Roozen Nursery, started a garden show in 1999 on WMAL radio called “The Roozens Garden Show”. In 2005, Rick Fowler joined forces with Jos and they became the hosts of Garden Sense on WMAL. The show was a huge success on WMAL and soon went into syndication on hundreds of different radio stations.

With the passing of Jos in 2018, changes began to occur at both Roozen Nursery and Garden Sense Radio. Eric Roozen (Jos’ brother) stepped in to not only run the garden center, but to also take up a microphone next to Rick. During this time, the Roozen’s Online (www.Roozenonline.com) eCommerce store continued to see a significant amount of growth. This unprecedented growth helped the company begin to think about life without the Garden Center, and instead, place the emphasis on growing the online store. In June of 2022, the physical location of Roozen Nursery officially shut it’s doors and all the focus was shifted to fulfilling the ever increasing demand of the online store. As a result, the traditional “Garden Sense Radio Show” also officially went off the air.

Today, Garden Sense Radio has transitioned to a fully-online platform, engaging with customers using videos posted directly on this website and various social media platforms. Times have certainly changed since Jos first started this endeavor, and although we’re working hard to change with them, our commitment to providing customers with sensible gardening advice has never been stronger. We hope you continue to support Garden Sense Radio and our new format, as well as our redesigned website  www.RoozensOnline.com. Your patronage to us since 2005 has been overwhelming, and we are committed to serving you better than we ever have before!

Garden Sense Radio – Our Vision

Garden Sense Radio was established to offer sensible garden advice to the sensible gardener. Even though we are no longer producing a radio show, we are producing high-quality videos to address customer questions and provide our customers with the same great advice that Jos Roozen & Rick Fowler provided for years!

In addition, we’ll point you directly to www.Roozensonline.com to find the products you need so you can order the things we talk about AND have the products delivered directly to your home.
